ASSIGNMENT No. 1

(Units: 1-5)


Q.1    Discuss various problems of development projects as identified in your book. Also suggest measures to overcome these problems.                                                                                                       (20)

Q.2    How are plan, programme and project related to each other? Describe their major types by giving suitable examples from education sector.                                                                                            (20)
        
Q.3    What do you understand by “Project Plan”? Describe the major types of information which a project plan must contain to make it a useful document.                                                                              (20)

Q.4    What do you understand by logical framework? Discuss its different characteristics and limitations in the context of project formulation.                                                                                         (20)

Q.5    Write short notes on the following:                                                                   (20)
         i)       Externalities of the project
         ii)      Project appraisal
         iii)      PC-I form: Its uses and limitations
         iv)     Project design.

Q.1    How does system approach help in successful implementation of the Project? Give reasons with examples in support of your answer.                                                                                                  (20)

Q.2    Take some hypothetical project (other than the one given in the unit) and prepare Gantt Chart and PERT showing its major activities.                                                                                                                               (20)

Q.3    What do you mean by management organizations, what type of organizational changes would you prepare for successful implementation of educational projects in Pakistan.                                           (20)

Q.4    Discuss four distinguishing features of development projects. Give examples in support of your answer.        (20)

Q.5    Write short notes on the following:                                                                   (20)
         i)       Force field analysis as an explanation of project environment.
         ii)      Concept of congruence and its application in project implementation.
         iii)      Three aspects of programme staff development
         iv)     Steps in preparing a Milestone.

Q.1    What are different uses of formative and summative evaluation in a project? Give examples in support of your answer.                                                                                                                     (20)

Q.2    Discuss different methods used for formal evaluation of a project. Which one of these methods do you think is the best for evaluating education projects and why?                                                      (20)

Q.3    What do you mean by monitoring of a project? Explain the monitoring of:
         i)       Physical facilities and           ii)      Financial accounting of a project          (20)

Q.4    Why do we go for sampling in an evaluation study? How would you decide about a sample size? Explain with the help of an example.                                                                                                   (20)

Q.5    Write short notes on the following:                                                                   (20)
         i)       Monitoring of infrastructure and delivery system
         ii)      Quasi-Experimentation: Non Equivalent Group Design
         iii)      Agro-tech. Scheme of Education

Q.1    Critically review the need, objectives and various components of personnel evaluation. Suggest measures to improve the prevailing procedure of personnel evaluation.                                                    (20)

Q.2    Identify and discuss the major functions and responsibilities of educational administrators at district level in new educational set up.                                                                                          (20)

Q.3    Describe various problems and functions which generally affect the implementation of educational plan in Pakistan. Suggest some administrative measures to avoid these problems.                        (20)

Q.4    Discuss the use of computer in different aspects of educational planning in Pakistan.            (20)

Q.5    Discuss in detail the constituents elements of control with reference to educational management. Give appropriate examples in support of your answer.                                                                (20)
